Dear Grayson County Residents:
I ask for your support of my candidacy for Grayson County District Clerk in the upcoming March 2010 Republican Primary Election.
I am a graduate of Whitesboro High School and Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Having worked as a legal assistant for Cooper, Huddleston & Aldous in Sherman for three years and as a victim advocate in a District Attorney’s office for over four years, I am well acquainted with the legal profession.
From 2001-2007, I was a Program Manager for Choctaw Management Services Enterprise. As Program Manager, my responsibilities included the recruitment, hiring, and management of 360 employees on over 70 military installations across the United States. I was also responsible for a budget in excess of $1.5 million. I currently work for Nat McClure State Farm Insurance Agency and am licensed by the State of Texas to sell property, casualty, life & health insurance.
I have two wonderful sons and am married to Kerye Ashmore, who serves as First Assistant to District Attorney Joe Brown. I am also and active community leader. Currently, I am a member of the Sherman Service League, Grayson County Republican Women, Sherman Business Women and the Kiwanis Club of Sherman. I serve on the Board of the Child and Family Guidance Center and the Sherman Chamber of Commerce, recently being named 2009 Abassador of the Year by the Chamber. I am also a member of the 2010 Sherman Leadership Class.
I am seeking the position of District Clerk to implement much needed reform. The District Clerk is a public official and thus, a public servant. It is essential that the District Clerk support and work with our district judges and other county officials as well as provide prompt, professional service to everyone so that the duties of the office can be fulfilled efficiently and in a courteous, respectful manner. If elected, one of the first actions I will take is to restore continuous service throughout the business day; I will end the practice of closing the office for lunch, when many members of the public need access to it the most.
I appreciate the encouragement from many in the legal profession who are supportive of my decision to seek this position. However, in light of the frequent interaction between the District Clerk’s Office and the legal community, I am respectfully declining financial contributions from lawyers in this election. Sincerely, |
